The Hirschy Family

How it all started...

In the Summer of 1997, Adam and Heidi were students at Iowa State University. God "rocked their world" with His power and love and called them to go to Bible school. They left ISU and attended Rhema Bible Training College in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After 18 years of ministering alongside Adam's father and mother, they heard the Lord say, "Leave your family, and go to a place that I will show you, I am sending you into a season of exposure and recalibration for your ministry." They left Iowa and moved to Texas, both entering another season of schooling. This time, Pastor Heidi attended The King's University for Worship Leadership and Pastor Adam attended Regent University for Strategic Leadership. They attended Gateway Church, a church averaging over 30,000 people a weekend with more than 7 campuses. God expanded their vision, connections, anointing, and calling.

In 2018, they heard God say, "Take My heart back to the heartland." The heart of God is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So they packed their bags, sold their home, and moved north to share the good news of Jesus. In the same year, during a time of prayer, Pastor Adam received a vision from God. In the vision, a dynamic church and leadership network grew from the center of the state of Iowa. It brought the life of God to the local area, the region of the heartland, and then the world. Through biblical study, counsel, and several confirming instances, Pastors Adam and Heidi understood they were to move into the West Des Moines area of Iowa. They enrolled their five children in school and prayerfully moved forward.
Pastor Adam began work on his final doctoral project in the fall of 2018. The Unification Project empowered independent spirit and faith-filled churches to come together in unity while celebrating their diversity. He provided a road map for them to accomplish Gospel mandates bigger than one local church. One of the next steps from this project was a recommendation to "plant a compelling church" together.  Little did he know what God was doing.

When Pastor Adam graduated with his Doctorate in Strategic Leadership, the Lord revealed He was to plant a church in the West Des Moines Metro. This church would restore people to God and empower them for the life God wanted them to have. The church would be ethnically and generationally diverse, faith-filled, Spirit-empowered, evangelistic, and minister God's compelling love to families. People would find freedom and stability in a mixed up world. The church would grow to be a resourcing center for the state and the heartland of the United States. This church would be innovative and have global impact!

In 2019, after several church plant trainings and times in prayer, Pastors Adam and Heidi began the process of planting Compelling Church. Initially, eight adults and six kids met to pray, worship, fellowship, learn, and plan. They were from Chicago, Des Moines, Tulsa, Dubuque, and Fort Worth. They came together around an authentic, deep, sacrificial love for God and His mission - redeeming people! The goal was to go public with Compelling Church in 2020.
